MAP-G — Multifunctional Adaptive Power Glass

MAP-G develops a new generation of Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) glass based on CdTe thin-film technology, combining electricity generation with the architectural and functional requirements of modern façades. The project brings together advanced photovoltaic glazing, real-world façade integration and in-house quality testing to deliver a product ready for market entry.

Main Objectives

To design and validate multifunctional adaptive power glass for building façades; to demonstrate the technology through full-scale mockup systems with established aluminium-systems partners; to establish reliable in-house testing and certification of the product; and to prepare a scalable manufacturing and market-entry pathway.

Expected Results

A validated, certified BIPV glass product suitable for integration into modern building envelopes; demonstrated performance through field validation and façade mockups; and a clear route to commercial production and market entry, strengthening the role of building-integrated solar technology in the energy transition.

The project MAP-G FTI/0325/0026 was funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation, under the Restart Research Programme 2016-2020 and through the Recovery and Resilience Facility of the NextGenerationEU instrument.
